The 22-year age gap between Carlo Ponti and Sophia Loren did not prevent the couple from forming a lasting relationship, which spanned nearly fifty years.

While Ponti provided the opportunity to develop her career as an actress, she in turn became his "wife," "soulmate," and "great love" - a classic romance.

Loyal to the end, Loren remained by her husband's side during his 10-day hospital stay until his passing in 2007.
