Girl in Mold (weird science is not its real title) is a piece of sculpture comprising ceramic, plaster and wood.

The work depicts the partially formed figure of a woman, laying in an open mold.

Although the woman appears to be in a form which could be repeated and mass. produced, her leg is raised in defiance, illustrating her individuality and her desire to break free from her confines.

Among other themes, this work considers the objectification of women, who's form could be designed and manufactured to certain criteria and specifications.
As a sculptor I often produce and use molds in my work, and so the inspiration for this concept came from an object very familiar to my practice
