The phrase is taken from Peanuts by Charles Schulz for November 03, 1959. I met Schulz’s wife Jean in 2016 in North California and she was on an outdoor trapeeze with some friends and she called to me : “come up on the Trapeze, Charley !”. I thought that was really cool. Wish I had gone up there but it was really high and I was really hungover from a ‘Wicked’ party and we’d just come back from a big road trip.
A year later in a wildfire her house burnt down and she lost all of her belongings, I think even her precious jewellery melted.
