Through the use of childlike imagery, artist Gemma Holzer reflects upon the universal emergence into adulthood and the interpersonal relationships we hold with one another. Her work reveals the collective loneliness that resonates in our post digital age. ​ Gemma makes large scale paintings that use brightly colored acrylic and oil on canvas. Painter and illustrator, born at Deri, Rhymney Valley, south Wales. Uzzell Edwards said that he “avoided art colleges”. Between 1962–70 he had studios and a studio gallery in Merthyr Tydfil and Tenby, while working as a technical illustrator. From 1967–8 he was Granada Arts Fellow at the University of York, the following year being spent at the British School at Rome. Born in South London and raised in Stockwell, Rhys began his artistic practice as a teenager doing graffiti, tagging the streets in and around the council estate where he grew up. His street work drew upon overheard conversations and his own stream of consciousness, incredibly creating a SAMO-style of poetry before Rhys had formally learned of Basquiat and the 1970s New York street scene. David is a self taught, London based painter interested in story telling and social commentary. David conveys narratives drawn from his own personal experience and every day encounters intermingled with popular culture and iconography. These predominantly figurative scenes are expressed through a fast paced, raw and emotive style all suffused with a healthy dose of humour.
