Simon Shepherd - Super Structure

Super Structure is a piece of ceramic sculpture, with a wood and metal interior.
The work consists of a large orange, who's skin has been partially peeled away to reveal an industrial type skeleton of wooden beams and metal plates.

Ideas and themes behind the work include those of genetic engineering and modification to produce food on an industrial scale, and the relationship between what we consider the natural, and the man-made world.
