Pure Evil - American Landscape - Nor Cal Skatepark at Dusk
A series of paintings of Californian Skateparks
150 x 175 cm
synthetic polymer on Screenprinter canvas
I left Thatchers Britain in 1990 and took my skateboard to California and didn’t come back for 10 years. When I was stressing I would drive up the skatepark in Petaluma, Tom Waits’ home town. I remember spending a July 4th up there when the racetrack opposite was roaring with the sounds of the speedway, with fireworks thrown into the skatebowl making it look like a scene from Apocalypse Now. This is my homage to the Skateparks of California.
